The Posse Cut almost seems like a forgotten element of the rap game. Now when you have four or five rappers spitting successive verses on a song it’s all too likely the leading pop single off a of DJ Khaled album instead of rappers actually disregarding potential radio play and trying to make a good tune.
Sneaker Highlight, Daniel Arsham x Adidas Futurecraft
Recently my interest in sneakers has been lost in a crowd of white leather Common Projects look-a-likes and Nike Off-White models. While at times boring, it was undeniable that 2017 was a huge year for sneakers, and it appears 2018 is looking no different.

What to make of Tech Wear
What do we make of tech wear? The small niche within the fashion world has seen recent growth in popularity. While there has always been a buzz surrounding tech wear, the high priced barrier to entry turned off a lot of interest. However, as more brands jump at the opportunity to become a trendy example the prices are beginning to fall.
Protect Lil B
In light of Lil B being jumped at the Rolling Loud Festival by A Boogie and his crew (and also PnB!) artists across genres have condemned Boogie and expressed support for Lil B in his current situation.
The Rap Collective
Raps groups have been a staple of hip hop since its inception. From The Fugees to De La Soul to UGK to ASAP Mob in 2017. More than any other genre, hip-hop thrives on the collaborative effort. I’ve written about rap groups before, crowning the best of the best, but surprisingly a lot has changed since that article was written.
IKEA Couture?
I know we’re late to the party, but a certain phenomenon has been sweeping the internet for the past couple of weeks, and it may not be what you’re expecting. That is, unless you were expecting for Swedish furniture retailer Ikea to be the hottest commodity in the fashion world.
Met Gala 2017: “The Art of the In-Between Costume”
This year’s Met Gala, entitled “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between Costume”, sought to highlight the living work of the founder and designer of the ever popular and avant-garde label CDG. While the Gala (and its corresponding Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute exhibit) traditionally highlights past creatives, prolific brands, and wild themes, it is uncommon to thematically celebrate living designers.

Op-Ed: Why Kendrick Lamar’s ‘DAMN.’ is his Best Album yet
Put down your pitchforks and torches – let me explain. Let’s ignore the fact that K-Dot has thus far earned the biggest Billboard debut of 2017. Ignore the fact that all fourteen songs are on the Hot 100. Kendrick Lamar’s release of ‘DAMN.’ on April 14th marked his fourth studio album and his best yet – and his Mom agrees with me.

Track of the Week, Superorganism’s ‘Something for your M.I.N.D’
Historically my track of the week articles features either a hip-hop or R&B track (because frankly that composes 95% of the music that I listen to), but I figured I’d switch it up this time. I finally got around to listening to the Blonded radio shows, one song at a time through Youtube (I don’t got that Apple Music money), and found some very interesting tracks (I know, I can’t go one article without praising Frank Ocean).

2017 XXL Freshman Anticipation
XXL has taken to doing something a little different this year with the 2017 XXL freshman class; you can now vote for who you want to receive the 10th and final spot. Of the artists up for a bid, nine spots have already been locked in (we just don’t know who). So yes, hypothetically you could be wasting your vote on an artist who has already made the cut, but it’s cool to have a hand in the selection process. So for fun, in no particular order, we’ve chosen our ideal 10 artists to make the freshman roster this year.
The Gorillaz Return
For the first time in 6 years, the virtual british band has announced they will be dropping a new project April 28th. The album titled ‘Humanz’ will support an impressive tracklist including features from Vince Staples, Kali Uchis, Popcaan and many more. Accompanying the release will be a short movie featuring the beloved virtual band members and songs from the project, essentially a visual album.
